15-5PH / EN 1.4545 (X5CrNiCu15-5, UNS S15500, XM-12) Precipitation Hardening Stainless Steel
15-5PH is a premium martensitic precipitation hardening stainless steel, improved version of 17-4PH, specified by German EN standard 1.4545 and American ASTM A182, A240, AMS 5659.
With balanced 15% chromium, 5% nickel, copper and niobium alloying elements, this grade eliminates almost all delta ferrite via vacuum remelting, delivering outstanding transverse toughness, uniform mechanical properties and much better resistance to stress corrosion cracking compared with 17-4PH.
It can be solution annealed at 1040–1065°C for easy machining, then age-hardened at low temperature with minimal distortion to reach different strength levels: H900 for maximum hardness, H1025 for balanced strength & ductility, H1150 for superior toughness & sour corrosion performance.
15-5PH features good weldability, excellent polishability, cavitation erosion resistance and corrosion performance close to 304 stainless steel.
Widely used in oil & gas valve stems & bodies, aerospace hydraulic components, food & medical machinery, hydro power turbine parts, high-strength fasteners and plastic injection molds.
Available products: round bar, flat bar, plate, seamless pipe, forgings, flanges and wire, supplied with DIN EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2 mill test certificates for European Union market.
